Our Story: Our founder, Steve, began this journey as a real estate investor himself. Frustrated with the typical property management experience, he saw an opportunity to build something better—something built by an owner, for owners. With a deep understanding of the unique needs of property owners and the daily responsibilities that come with managing properties, Steve created a company rooted in empathy, efficiency, and integrity.

What started as a one-person operation has grown into a full-service property management company. Today, we proudly operate with a dedicated in-house maintenance team and a responsive administrative office, all working together to provide reliable, hands-on service throughout the City of Good Neighbors—Buffalo, NY.

Our mission is built on a Triple Win Philosophy: when owners, tenants, and our property management team all succeed, everyone thrives. We believe in creating lasting value for property owners, safe and comfortable homes for tenants, and a supportive, collaborative environment for our team.

Whether he’s changing locks, conducting inspections, or building strong relationships with property owners, he’s always hands-on and involved in every aspect of the business. As the CEO and owner, Steve is committed to making sure everything runs smoothly and every client feels valued.

Lisa

Client Concierge

As our Client Concierge, Lisa is dedicated to providing clear communication and exceptional service to our property owners — ensuring they feel supported every step of the way. With a strong background in operations across a variety of industries, Lisa brings a proven record of achieving excellent results. She manages key administrative tasks such as tracking delinquencies, coordinating with our legal team during eviction processes, monitoring lease renewals, and assisting with tenant move-ins when needed.

Her goal is to make every client’s experience with Nickel City Property Management smooth, transparent, and stress-free.

Laura

Property Manager Assistant

Laura is the friendly and knowledgeable voice behind many of your calls, texts, and emails. She’s been with the company through many transitions and knows the ins and outs of the process like no one else. From rental applications and screening to on-boarding and lease generation—Laura has likely guided you every step of the way. Her attention to detail and dedication make her an essential part of the team and a go-to resource for both new and current tenants.

Ell

Bookkeeper

Ell is an essential behind-the-scenes member of our team, managing our bookkeeping operations with precision and care. He organizes and tracks transactions between payments, account ledgers, and our vendors, ensuring everything stays accurate and up to date. Ell’s attention to detail and reliability make him an integral part of our back office and overall operations.  

Kate

Improvement Manager

Kate originally joined our team as a Property Manager, where she ensured clear communication between tenants and property owners. After gaining hands-on experience coordinating move-ins, managing rent payments, and handling a variety of administrative responsibilities, her role evolved into that of Improvement Manager.

With her organized and approachable style, Kate is dedicated to enhancing efficiency, transparency, and collaboration across all departments as Nickel City Property Management continues to grow and evolve.  

Maintenance Team

Our in-house maintenance team is friendly, helpful, and quick to handle repairs, making sure tenants feel taken care of and owners know their properties in good hands.

 

Nate

Maintenance Manager

Nate is the go-to guy when it comes to keeping your home in top shape. He oversees all maintenance requests and scheduling, making sure repairs are handled quickly and efficiently. If you rent from us, chances are you’ll meet Nate at some point – or one of our hardworking maintenance team members. This crew is truly the grit and backbone of the company, and Nate helps keep it all running smoothly behind the scenes.

Vanessa "Van"

Maintenance Coordinator

Van plays a key role in scheduling and facilitating communication between our maintenance team, third-party vendors, and tenants. Van is often the friendly and efficient point of contact behind many of our maintenance messages, ensuring work is scheduled promptly and that all parties are kept in the loop throughout the process.
